Gaza Crisis Appeal

The ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is devastating and winter is making the immense suffering worse. Civilian infrastructure has been almost completely destroyed, while 96% of people don’t have enough food.

In January 2025 a ceasefire agreement came into effect. This has provided an opportunity to ensure a greater and more consistent flow of humanitarian aid to those who need it.

As well as the conflict, clean water is scarce, and the healthcare system has all but collapsed. Most families have been displaced several times, but there is nowhere safe to go. Red Cross and Red Crescent teams are ready to scale up support to those who desperately need it.

What is the Red Cross and Red Cresent Societies doing to help the people in Gaza

  • provided 1.6 million relief items
  • almost 1,500 staff and volunteers working
  • supported over 900,000 people with health services
  • provided psychosocial support to more than 131,000 people
  • reached over 100,000 people with emergency medical services
  • operated 27 medical points and clinics
  • set up 27 camps for displaced people in Gaza

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has:

  • supported the operation of the Red Cross Field Hospital in Rafah, providing medical care for 300 people a day. Since its opening, the hospital has performed more than 47,000 consultations and more than 2,000 operations
  • provided one cooked meal a day to 25,000 vulnerable people in Gaza, as well as ready-to-eat food parcels to over 32,000 people and nutritional food bars to almost 200,000 people
  • provided essential items to almost 1.4 million internally displaced people in Gaza and helped more than 1.4 million people access clean water

For this reason, the majority of funds from this appeal will be used to support people in Gaza and Lebanon. A number of DEC charities are ready to expand their support in Israel if needed, including the British Red Cross.
