The British Red Cross has launched an emergency appeal to support the people of Libya in the wake of this disaster.

In the early hours of Sunday, Storm Daniel hit Libya, triggering flash flooding across the northeastern region of the country, including Benghazi, Sousse, Derna, and Al-Marj. In some areas, floods reached up to three metres deep, sweeping away houses, vehicles, and debris in their path.

A few days later, over 5,000 people have reportedly died, with as many as 10,000 reported missing as families search for their loved ones.

Libyan Red Crescent teams are currently on the ground responding to this devastating emergency, with volunteers putting their lives on the line to save people.

Whilst the situation is still developing, there are immediate and severe needs for those affected.

Please consider a donation to our Libya Floods Appeal. Your support could help save lives. Thank you.
