As part of our official charity partnership, the British Red Cross are working with the English Football League (EFL) and their 72 Clubs in local communities across the country to help those facing loneliness and isolation.
1 in 5 people in the UK are experiencing loneliness. During the pandemic, as a result of people being cut off from their family and friends, the number of people feeling lonely increased. Now the greater cost of living is forcing many to cut back and sacrifice on socialising. Living apart from loved ones can increase the risk of social isolation, making it especially challenging for some young refugees and people suffering from health and mobility issues to integrate into their community.
The British Red Cross believes that no one should struggle on their own. From helping people home from hospital, supporting refugees to settle into a new community, or providing wheelchair loans to people who might otherwise be unable to afford one, British Red Cross teams help people to live independently, build their confidence, and get the support they need.
Through our partnership with EFL, we are also helping to reduce loneliness and isolation through the nation’s favourite game, using it as a springboard to create new long-term friendships and connections between local fans.
Please donate today to help us connect people to their community.
