Even one life lost is far too many. Yet since the beginning of 2024, 30 Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers and staff have died or been killed while performing their humanitarian duties — 27 due to violence, 3 in accidents. In such a short time period, this is among the highest levels of global violence against National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ teams that we’ve ever experienced.
