Universitaires de France solidaires avec Beyrouth
Les nouvelles de Beyrouth sont très alarmantes. Le bilan des deux explosions qui ont dévasté le port le 4 Août est énorme. Beyrouth est officiellement déclarée "ville sinistrée". Des rues entières du coeur de la ville ont été balayées. On compte plus de 300000 déplacés. Cette catastrophe aggrave dramatiquement la situation de millions de personnes vivant à Beyrouth, qui souffraient déjà d’une grave crise économique et sociale sans précédent. Les liens entre nos universités françaises et Beyrouth ont des racines profondes et anciennes qui nous engagent à solliciter la solidarité de chacun d'entre nous. Notre solidarité représente un important soutien matériel et moral pour tous les beyrouthins. La croix rouge libanaise, qui a toujours été en première ligne dans tous les drames ayant frappé le Liban, et dont l'efficacité auprès des plus démunis et la réputation solide n'ont jamais été controversées, a ouvert, à l'initiative d'un de nos collègues (pour plus d'informations contacter Bassam Fayad, directeur de recherche CNRS à l'Institut de Mathématiques de Paris Rive Gauche), un compte spécial pour permettre de témoigner de la solidarité des universités françaises avec Beyrouth, aujourd'hui sinistrée.
