RED CROSS: DONATIONS MOST WELCOME FOR STORM VICTIMS
Heavy rainfall and flooding due to the southwest monsoon and Typhoon Carina have forced the evacuation of over 866,000 individuals or more than 179,000 families nationwide.
The Philippine Red Cross Operations Center has reported that thousands of families are currently staying in 102 evacuation centers in Metro Manila (Manila, Quezon City), Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Iloilo, Batangas-Nasugbu, Cagayan, Occidental Mindoro, Bulacan, and Rizal Province. Families and children are without water, electricity and basic services, while others are stranded in knee- and chest-deep floods.
The Red Cross has also mobilized emergency response vehicles, RC143 volunteers, emergency response units, and water search, and rescue (WASAR) teams to provide food, water, sanitation items, and other essentials.
Donations are most welcome for us to reach more people and save lives.
