On February 6, 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the southeast region of Turkey, killing more than 45,000 people (asof February 17, 2023). The number of casualties will continue to increase in the near future.
This is one of the strongest earthquakes to hit this area in nearly a century, destroying thousands of homes and causing heavy damage to people, property and vehicles. Meanwhile, cold weather, snowfall and rain continue to occur in the earthquake areas. This make more difficulties for the victims.
